ConTactic

abstract

ConTactic is an audio-visual logbook of how human bodies navigate between physical and virtual spaces.

It uses workshopping as method to create, play and embody the unknown with the public participants.

It creates spaces for embodied performance and interaction between human and non-human bodies.

It creates sound enabled by HMI (human machine interaction), bodies mediated by telematic technology, and a union of sense to be perceived together, like synaesthesia, a neurological condition that allow an individual to sense across different sensual modalities.

It explore ways to create a third space for collective movement, interdependence and care with the others through virtual hapticality (virtual touch), sound as a mirror, and embodied multisensory experiences.

It began with a desire to expand the possibility of eliciting both tactile and non-tactile senses through affective sensory experience and synaesthetic experience of virtual contact improvisation and gesture-control sound composition.

It is seeded from the ongoing virtual contact improvisation meetings with choreographer, Joan Gavaler and artist S.L.Lewis from physical theatre company, Aura CuriAtlas

It invites us to feel the screen, touch the sound, and dream about the desired future in relation to the potential possibilities in the reality.
